This is a project of the Santa Fe Artists’Medical Fund and Artisans Of Santa Fe. We send emails to artists who have signed up on our website to receive emails from the Artist Medical Fund. Our website is
www.santafeartistsmedicalfund.org.
If you have not already signed up, please go and sign up. Future emails about FLOWERS FOR SANTA FE will come from the Artist Medical Fund, and our email address
santafeartistsfund@gmail.com.
Artisans Of Santa Fe has agreed to partner and sponsor with us. If you need a watercolor block or watercolor pad to begin making your flowers for this project, the Santa Fe Artists’ Medical Fund will pay for the watercolor block or watercolor pad. Contact Artisans and get the watercolor block or watercolor pad. We are unable to pay for paint or brushes, but the purchase of watercolor blocks or watercolor pads will help you to paint your flowers, and it will help Artisans stay in business during these troubling times. Artisans has agreed to sell the watercolor blocks and pads, paid for by the Artists’ Medical Fund, at a 25% discount.
When you have completed your flower paintings, take them to Artisans Santa Fe. They will hold the paintings until members of the Artists’ Medical Fund get them for delivery to hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The sooner that you get them completed and get them to Artisans, the sooner we will be able to give them as gifts.
We suggest that the pieces be 9“ x 12“ or smaller. No framing is expected. Any medium will be wonderful – watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic, oil, pastel, photography, collage, or any mixed media. One artist may incorporate some fiber art. Experiment, use materials you don’t normally use, explore and “paint outside the box” and make Santa Fe proud.
There is no real deadline for getting your flower paintings finished and taken to Artisans, but the sooner the better. Christus St Vincent Hospital averages 100 to 150 patients at any one time (our goal is to give every patient a painting). We need to get at least 100 paintings together before we deliver them to the hospital. Many artists are making several pieces. Anything that you can contribute will be deeply appreciated.
We suggest that you write a note on the back with a message that may brighten the day of the patient who receives it. Please put your name, contact information or website, or gallery representation. The Santa Fe Artists’ Medical Fund will put an Artists’ Medical Fund sticker on the back. While we do not expect anything in return for these gifts, who knows, blessings may flow your way from your gift. Let the person who receives it know who you are, how to contact you, and show your love of art and flowers.
Some artists are beginning to spread the word on Facebook and Instagram. That is a tremendous gesture. Feel free to show one or more pieces of art that you are donating, and spread the word. Invite other artists to join us.
